# File Notes and Attachments

Files notes are very similar to private notes, except they are accessible to HR and managers. Any HR or line manager can contribute to anyone's file notes.

The same is true for attachments, found in the far right tab of the profile. You can change the permissions for different attachments once they are uploaded.

## Special Attachment Permissions

Using the three dots menu on an attachment, you can give certain people in the company outside the reporting line or HR group permission to view the item. The eye icon to the left indicates whether the attachment can be included in the review supporting data.
